Systems Engineer III - Windows

Personal Genome Diagnostics (PGDx) is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer III - Windows. The ideal candidate will provide system engineering, administration, operations, and IT support throughout the organization, including the design and delivery of systems to support the software development lifecycle, IT environment, and business operations.

  • Designs, installs, and maintains a multi-tiered server infrastructure for the testing and deployment of applications
  • Updates hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security
  • Supports operational management and patch management of systems across the environment
  • Monitors systems and take action on alerts for items such as system capacity, availability, utilization, etc.
  • Manages Active Directory Users and Groups to ensure proper access across the domain
  • Manages Group Policy to ensure standard configurations and security policies are being applied across the domain
  • Provides support on systems which include web servers, application servers, content management systems, and similar tools that support application development and delivery
  • Follows policies and procedures related to configuration management and change management across IT infrastructure
  • Evaluates, maintains and enhances system and web server security
  • Provides additional System Administration duties on Windows / Red Hat Linux, as required
  • Develops, maintains, and follows company procedures related to information technology, including Bioinformatics processes, data storage, network infrastructure, and computer services
  • Works closely with various team members internally and externally for successful completion of various day-to-day tasks and ongoing infrastructure support projects
  • Implements ongoing improvements and the feasibility of system and process enhancements
  • Mentors junior staff
  • Other duties as assigned
  • BS in Computer Science or Information Systems with 7+ years experience or MS with 3+ years hands-on experience with Windows server administration (2008, 2012, 2016)
  • Experience with system and web applications administration
  • Experience designing, installing and supporting server solutions and devices: physical and/or virtual
  • Experience managing Microsoft Hyper-V hosts and associated virtual machines
  • Expert experience with Microsoft Active Directory (both on premises and Azure AD)
  • Expert experience with Microsoft Group Policy
  • Experience supporting an enterprise to include both server and desktop deployment of applications
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience working with development teams in an Agile Environment
  • Excellent written communication, problem solving, and process management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and managers
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work within a dynamic environment
  • Strong and proven customer service skills
  • Recommended Certifications:
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Recommended Experience:
    • Experience with Linux administration (CentOS or RedHat)
    • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or similar cloud technologies
    • Experience with configuration automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Salt or Ansible. Ansible preferred
    • Experience in DevOps concepts as applied to Continuous Integration/Delivery/Deployment
    • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo
    • Experience with version control systems, Git preferred
