Director, Field Medical Affairs

Personal Genome Diagnostics (PGDx) is seeking a Director of Field Medical Affairs who will play a strategic and highly visible role in developing and executing the medical education and medical affairs strategy for launching our NGS-based cancer profiling products into clinical labs worldwide. This role interacts across internal functions and externally with oncologists, pathologists and molecular medicine thought leaders to ensure knowledge transfer to the broader oncology and molecular pathology community. This role will play an instrumental part of planning and implementing product launch-readiness activities and building our medical education and outreach capabilities.

  • Lead our strategy to build peer-to-peer medical education capacity amongst pathologists and oncologists to support the global implementation of NGS testing in cancer
  • Facilitate education of oncologists and pathologists regarding utility of clinical NGS and PGDx products
  • Present technical and complex ideas in a simple, straightforward manner to engage varied stakeholders including physicians, business leaders, and scientists
  • Participate in scientific exchange with KOLs/physicians/researchers and investigators in the field and during medical congresses
  • Identify opportunities for collaborations with molecular medicine thought leaders to generate impactful evidence demonstrating the clinical utility of PGDx products
  • Work to establish PGDx products in clinical guidelines and care pathways
  • Working in conjunction with the Medical Director, serve in a referral capacity to evaluate/address/escalate medical inquiries issues with clinicians and molecular lab users that cannot be managed by Customer Service and Support personnel
  • Engage in strategy meetings to address technical and clinical impediments to adoption of our products
  • Identify and participate in developing new products that address substantiated medical unmet need in the field of oncology
  • Assess and understand evolving clinical environments in order to sustain and leverage expertise in Oncology and Molecular Pathology. Maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant disease states, current and emerging treatments as they relate to PGDx products and services
  • Develop and create materials such as slide decks, training materials, white papers, monographs, case report summaries, clinical synopses
  • Collaborate with internal/external scientists and physicians to review, refine, and extend existing medical content
  • Work with other in-house and field partners to facilitate ongoing information/clinical data sharing (ie. new data, competitive information, insights learned from customer) to optimize communications and coordinated activities across the organization
  • Keen ability to interpret medical evidence and integrate with genomic testing data, with a strong knowledgebase of the oncology therapeutic landscape and cancer genomics
  • Skilled presenter of complex technical data, with an aptitude for summarization and strategic communication
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and keen ability to build trusting relationships and drive strategic alignment
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory and industry standards related to medical affairs and thought leader engagement is required
  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree (MD, PhD, PharmD), with 8+ years post-graduate experience
  • Previous medical affairs and oncology experience REQUIRED
  • Previous experience working with clinical application of diagnostic testing; NGS experience/background strongly preferred
  • Experience building and leading field-based teams preferred
